Tiffany Haddish, who is Jewish on her father’s side, will talk about that side of her heritage in her next Netflix comedy special, “Black Mitzvah.” Haddish’s father, Tsihaye Reda Haddish, was an Eritrean refugee who was born in Ethiopia to a Jewish family. His daughter visited Eritrea in 2018 to meet with relatives and became a naturalized citizen of the country in May of this year.

In the special, Haddish reflects on her newfound fame, a gift from Beyoncé and lessons she learned along the way. It will premiere on Netflix Dec. 3, Haddish’s 40th birthday.
