East West Street: A Personal History of Genocide and Crimes Against Humanity

Author Philippe Sands’ prize-winning book East West Street (Alfred Knoft/Vintage, 2016) is part historical detective story, part family history, and part legal thriller. A professor of law and frequent contributor on news programs, Sands connects his legal work on genocide and crimes against humanity with an untold story at the heart of the Nuremberg Trial that pits lawyers Rafael Lemkin and Hersch Lauterpacht against Hans Frank, Hitler’s former lawyer and defendant number 7.
