Today I attended the BlogHer16 Conference at the Marriott at LA LIVE, put on by SheKnows Media. SheKnows Media is the number one lifestyle digital media company, with 79 million unique visitors per month.  I took the Metro Expo Line from Santa Monica which worked great.  There were hundreds of bloggers, marketers, influencers, PR folks and staff all trying to get to know each other.  Tonight we just met at 5:00 for the evening, but it goes on all day Friday and Saturday.  It’s at the Marriott downtown at LA Live, and well worth the trip.

After a wine reception, we all entered the large conference room and got to know each other while settling in.  Bloggers are the nicest people!  Then they started a very frank and informative program about female sexuality, led by a doctor and therapist.

Next we all filed out into the hallway to make our way up stairs to the Expo Hall.  Here is where dozens of sponsors give out free samples, information and brochures to get the bloggers more informed and help spread the word about their products or services.  They also had delicious mini-plates of food and desserts scattered about, and bars set up throughout.  It was crowded but very fun.  I had to take an Uber ride home instead of the Metro, I was so loaded down with bulging tote bags!

One item of note about this conference, #SheDoesGood is a partnership “between SheKnows Media and the Ad Council…this program encourages social influencers and  content creators to become ambassadors to the Ad Council’s social causes and pro-social campaigns.”  This makes my tiny blogger’s heart burst with pride!

Tomorrow the conference begins in earnest, with programs running from 8 am through the evening, and then again on Saturday.  For more information about the event, visit blogher.com and click on “Conferences.”  Tickets last time I checked were still available.
