Ninet Tayeb is an Israeli singer and actress, who rose to stardom in 2003, as the winner of the first season of Kochav Nolad (the Israeli version of American Idol.)

Ninet Tayeb became the “Naional Sweetheart,” after winning the contest, especially thanks to her “Cinderella story” – a shy, small town teenager, and an IDF soldier who can make your heart skip a beat when she opens her mouth.

After winning Kokhav Nolad, Teddy productions, the production company behind Kokhav Nolad, created a daily musical television series named “HaShir Shelanu” (“Our Song”,) starring Tayeb. The story of the was loosely based on Tayeb’s life. The show became a hit and ran through four seasons. Tayeb also appeared in several Israeli films, mostly in supportive roles.
In 2006, she released her debut album,Yechefa (“Barefoot,”) which was certified gold, selling more than 20,000 copies. On November 17, 2009, Tayeb released her second album, Communicativi (“Communicative”,) to which she wrote all the lyrics and composed most of the tracks. This album was a major shift in Tayeb’s image from the “National Sweetheart” to a dark rocker. Around that time, she drew more public attention through gossip columns rather than her music. For years, all people talked about was her changing hairstyles and her relationship with the Israeli actor Yehuda Levi.

In recent years, Tayeb recorded the Hebrew soundtrack for the movie Mary Poppins. She was also chosen by Walt Disney Company to record the Hebrew soundtrack for the movie The Princess and The Frog. In 2010 Tayeb played Wendla in Israeli production of the musical Spring Awakening at Beit Lessin Theatre. Nowadays she mainly performs and currently working on two albums, one in English and one in Hebrew, with the band Rockfour.
