This Rosh HaShanah, we celebrated the birthday of the world and allowed ourselves to feel the awe and vulnerability that goes with being a creature—mortal, fallible, limited, situated and just grossly imperfect generally.


This year, in my Rosh HaShanah sermon, I offered some thoughts and Jewish teachings about this condition and also attempted to apply these very sweeping ideas to specific issues now before us, the refugee crisis in particular.
