Jewish rapper Mac Miller was found dead at his home in the San Fernando Valley on Friday, the Los Angeles Times reported.

The cause of death was an apparent drug overdose.

Miller, 26, whose real name was Malcolm McCormick, was born to a Christian father and a Jewish mother. Growing up, he had a bar mitzvah and attended Jewish summer camp. In a 2016 interview with Rolling Stone, when asked if because he was Jewish he had anything to atone for, Miller said, “Yeah! Don’t we all? If I had to pick something, what I’m going for this year is just being 100 percent honest with everybody in my life.”

According to the Times, Miller had long struggled with drug issues. He battled with some of these issues publicly during a high profile two-year relationship with pop star Ariana Grande. Their relationship ended in May.

According to the Times, paramedics responded to his home in the 11600 block of Valleycrest Road.

Miller burst out onto the hip-hop scene with the hit single, “Donald Trump,” in 2011, an aspirational tune about acquiring wealth. He had just released a new album, “Swimming,” last month, and was preparing to tour in support of the record, with a concert scheduled for Oct. 31 at the Greek Theatre.
