Israeli TV reporter tests stab-proof material, gets stabbed

If an Israeli company hoped that participating in a TV news report on its new anti-stabbing vests would bolster sales, the idea might have backfired — when the reporter, in fact, got stabbed.

In response to a wave of stabbings in Israel, FMS Enterprises — which normally manufactures bulletproof material — developed what it calls a stab-proof vest.

Israeli soldier stabbed in Ramallah

An Israeli soldier was attacked and stabbed by a group of Palestinians during an operation in the West Bank city of Ramallah.

The soldier following Monday night’s attack was taken to Hadassah-Ein Kerem Medical Center in Jerusalem and is in stable condition.

Gunfire from Israeli troops responding to the attack injured three Palestinians.

On Tuesday, Israeli troops foiled a terror attack along the Gaza border, defusing a powerful bomb planted next to the security fence, the Israel Defense Forces said.

The bomb was meant to attack soldiers patrolling near the security fence separating Israel from the Gaza Strip, according to the IDF, which said in a statement that the bomb was planted at the end of last week, using the cover of heavy fog.

Body of American tourist, allegedly killed by Arabs, found near Jerusalem

The body of an American tourist was found near Jerusalem a day after she was attacked and kidnapped, allegedly by Arab assailants.

Christine Logan’s body was identified Sunday morning by Jerusalem police. Her hometown in the United States has not yet been reported.

Logan and a friend, Susan Kaye Wilson, a tour guide from Givat Ze’ev who made aliyah from Great Britan in 1991, were attacked Saturday while hiking at Khirbet Hanut, an archaeological site near Beit Shemesh.

Wilson told police, according to reports, that two Arab men beat and stabbed the women and tied their hands behind their backs. Wilson said she pretended to be dead and later escaped. Wilson was hospitalized at Hadassah University Medical Center in Jerusalem’s Ein Kerem with stab wounds to her upper body.

A massive search began Saturday for Logan, involving roadblocks and checkpoints, as well as hundreds of Israeli army and Border Police troops, Haaretz reported.

Police are working to determine if the attack was nationalistically motivated or random violence.
