Rosner’s Torah Talk: Parashat Vayera with Rabbi Dahlia Bernstein

Our guest this week is Rabbi Dahlia Bernstein, spiritual leader of congregation Beth Ohr in Bellmore, NY. Rabbi Bernstein is a graduate of the Joint Program between the Jewish Theological Seminary and Columbia University, where she earned two bachelor’s degrees in Talmud/Rabbinics and Anthropology. Rabbi Bernstein completed Rabbinic ordination at the Jewish Theological Seminary, where she earned the Schusterman Fellowship and where she also pursued a Master’s degree in Jewish education.

This week’s Torah portion —Parashat Vayera (Genesis 18:1-22:24) — features several of the most well-known stories in the Bible, including the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, the birth of Isaac, the banishment of Hagar and Ishmael, and the binding of Issac. Our discussion focuses on angels and their role in the world.
