Israeli airstrikes hit an underground rocket launcher and a terror cell in the Gaza Strip in response to rocket fire by Gaza terrorists on southern Israel.

The retaliatory strike by Israel took place early Tuesday morning; the Palestinian Maan news service said it caused heavy damage but no injuries.

Two rockets fired from Gaza had landed near Ashkelon the previous afternoon and evening.

“The IDF targeted sites that were part of the infrastructure utilized to terrorize Israel and its civilians,” the Israel Defense Forces said in a statement.

Some 35 rockets fired by Palestinian terrorists have landed in southern Israel since the beginning of the calendar year, according to the IDF.
