I just want to respond to the article, “Passage of Prop 8…“ (Nov, 14)

I think that homosexuals individuals should be treated respectfully by other people.  And if they want, they could have a civil union ceremony. I think they should get the same gov. benefits that others get.

I just think that traditional marriage shouldn’t be tampered with, since the Torah that G-d gave us, forbids homosexual intercourse.  If we allow these couples to marry, we lower the moral standard.  Let’s keep the standard where it is,  and people can choose whether or not to hold by it.

Many believe that they can’t do anything about these urges for the same sex. But I believe if the Torah forbids this type of sexual activity, it’s Not Impossible to overcome this challenge. It’s very difficult indeed, but with a lot of support, effort and time, it’s do-able. We all have challenges in life, some big and some small. For example, some people have a difficulty controlling themselves when they hear juicy rumors and want to tell everyone.  Our purpose is to keep trying to improve ourselves so we can reach our potential self.

By the way, there is a site called http://jonahweb.org that helps

Allowing gay marriage would not result in rabbis or other clergy in being forced to marry gay couples.  So the Torah argument doesn’t really apply, especially if, as you say, you support benefits, co-habitation, etc.

It’s only a manner of time when some couple will demand to be married in a Church and they, the clergy haven’t a leg to stand on without facing a discrimination lawsuit. The only fix is civil authorities should only issue Civil Union Licenses to ALL and leave the concept of marriage to the churches.  Governments should not be enacting definitions of marriage, leave that to the churches.
