Rosner’s Torah-Talk: Parashat Tazria with Rabbi Hillel Skolnik

[additional-authors]
April 8, 2016

Our guest this week is Rabbi Hillel Skolnik, leader of the Southwest Orlando Jewish Community in Orlando, Florida. Rabbi Skolnik, a graduate of Brandeis University, was ordained at the Jewish Theological Seminary of America 2011. In the summer of 2011, he and his family moved down to Orlando to become the Rabbi of the Southwest Orlando Jewish Congregation. Rabbi Skolnik is the president of the Greater Orlando Board of Rabbis, a member of the Orange County Public School Faith Based Advisory Committee, and a member of the Faith Against Domestic Violence Task Force through Harbor House of Central Florida.

This week’s Torah Portion – Parashat Tazria (Leviticus 12:1-13:59) – features several laws of purity and impurity, including the rules concerning the process of a woman’s purification after childbirth and the rite of circumcision. Our discussion focuses on the idea of bringing someone back into the community.

If you would like to learn some more about Parashat Tazria, check out our talk with Rabbi Elie Weinstock.
