U.S. citizens leave for Gaza flotilla

A group of Americans have left for Athens to join a flotilla of ships planning to challenge Israel\’s naval blockade of the Gaza Strip. The 36 American participants, as well as four crew members and nine journalists, are planning to sail on the American-flagged boat The Audacity of Hope in the 10-ship flotilla. One-quarter of the U.S. participants reportedly are Jewish. The U.S. ship will have no humanitarian aid or other cargo on board, according to reports.

‘Navy prepared to board flotilla ships if they don’t stop’

The Israel Navy is prepared to intercept and take control of the ships participating in the new flotilla to the Gaza Strip, a senior Navy officer said Tuesday on the anniversary of the IDF operation to stop the Mavi Marmara that ended in the death of nine Turkish nationals.

Israel must explore all fronts to stop new flotilla, Netanyahu orders

Israel must continue diplomatic efforts to prevent a new Gaza flotilla, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said. Netanyahu met Wednesday with his inner Cabinet, called the Forum of Seven, to discuss ways to thwart the new flotilla, which reportedly has been delayed until after June 12 parliamentary elections in Turkey.

Gaza blockade legal, Turkel commission finds

The Israeli commission of inquiry into the Israeli Navy\’s interception of a Gaza-bound flotilla found that the naval blockade of Gaza does not break international law.
