One Israeli Creation for the Weekend

Yehudit Ravitz is one of the most appreciated Israeli artists. With a career spanning over 30 years and 12 solo albums, the singer-songwriter stands behind songs that every single one of us knows by heart.

Ravitz’ musical career began in the army, when she was accepted to the Combat Engineering Corps military band. While serving in the army, she joined the Israeli rock group “Sheshet”. She performed the song “Forgiveness”, a composition to the song of the Israeli poet Leah Goldberg, at the 1977 pre-Eurovision contest. Ravitz finished sixth place at the festival, but the song became “Song of The Year” in 1977. Her nation-wide success let her to leave Sheshet and begin a solo career.

Ever since, she collaborated with some of Israel’s top musicians, including Yoni Rechter, Matti Caspi and Gidi Gov, creating some of Israel’s best songs. She is known for her upbeat music and fun performances, where she always makes the audience stand on their feet and dance.

Ravitz is openly lesbian and has two children with her partner, Naomi Kaniuk.
